Hope is restored when 3 very large and sweet Maincoons left in ‘devastating’ condition are rescued and given pawdorable new haircuts: ‘Boots with the fur!’

If you have never seen a Maincoon house cat you might be startled at first. They are usually very large—probably the same size as your medium sized dog! The breed has beautiful lush coats and tend to be very friendly. They're like the big friendly giants of house cats! It's rare you find one of these babies out on the streets since they are such a cared for breed. Their friendliness attracts cat lovers from all over, and their needed haircare keeps their owners very hands on.

So, if they are left to their own survival, it doesn't tend to bode well for them. Luckily, that's rarely the case, but that doesn't stop tragedy from striking. Take these three magnificent and very friendly Maincoons. They were loved for many many years by a woman who took very good care of them, but suddenly tragedy struck and she was gone. The cats were left with her father, who, unfortunately, is very elderly and deteriorating mentally…

The elderly man could not properly care for these cats and they accidentally ended up in devastating condition. Though well fed, their coats ended up getting extremely matted, eyes infected, fleas everywhere, you get the picture… When the rest of the family realized this, they quickly called help and surrendered the cats to better hands.

Luckily, the babies got rescued and taken straight to the care they needed. Two of the cats had to be sedated and shaved down, one was able to just get a nice brush out. They all got the meds they needed and are in the processes of healing in foster care until they are ready for adoption.

The woman taking care of them can't believe just how friendly they are! She says she's used to Maincoons being friendly, since that is in their breed, but these three in-particular are extra loving—which is surprising to her after the condition they were found in. Because of this, she finds their story even more tragic because it was clear these babies were very much loved, but due to tragedy, they could not be taken care of properly.

Luckily now, the three are doing much better and are healing beautifully! They are able to move much better without the matts, and are still showing love to anyone who will accept it from them. See their entire story below!
